The recent concert by yanni at chennai had tremendous response from the crowd. Life art #1: You are tired of your job. Aren't You? Here's what you can do

This post is specifically targeted at people in the 25-30 age group. The unmarried ones.

We have been working for 5-6 years now. 

Some of us may have been in the same job, some may have switched multiple jobs, some may have gone onsite a couple of times and come back.

But there is something common to most of us.

We are tired of the job and do not know what to do. 

The Problem

1. We do not find the job to be meaningful or challenging enough
2. We take work too seriously. We are afraid of not doing well
3. Mostly we do not have to interact much with people in office and have to work alone
4. We spend most of the time after office with office friends discussing office stuff
5. We have made enough enemies in office and do not want to see some of the faces everyday
6. We have lost touch with old friends
7. We are fake with family. They do not know that we drink "socially" and other complications. We have to lie a lot to them.
8. We have stopped making new friends.

Quitting the job is not the solution. Any other place you go to will be similar.

To change this, you need to do something drastically different. A small one week break is not going to make a difference.

The Shock Treatment

1. Take a long leave. Atleast a month. Your boss might be surprised at first but convince him that it will better for both of you in the long run if you come back fresh.
2. Travel. Travel to the cities and towns where your school and college friends are. Catch up with them. Rebuild old friendships that you had let die because of being too involved in work.
3. Spend time with family. Tell them all the things that they did not know about you. They will be horrified at first but you do not have to lie to your family anymore.

After a month, when you are back in office, you will be fresh. But you will soon fall back into the same habits if you do not do some permanent changes to your lifestyle.

The Permanent Change

1. Spend the money that you earn. Move into the posh locality with the high rent.
2. Spend the money that you earn. Buy a second hand sedan and go on long drives
3. Spend the money that you earn. Go to the expensive restaurants
4. Dress well to office. Full Formals. Plain Shirts. Full Sleeve Not Folded. Clean Shave. Not for anybody else but for your own confidence.
5. Develop a friends circle outside office.
6. Take leaves often. Attend all your friend's weddings. This is where you catch up with old friends and make new ones 
7. Learn to enjoy doing things alone. Go alone to that movie that you know none of your friends will like
8. Learn to enjoy doing things alone. Go alone to that museum that you know none of your friends will like
9. Learn to enjoy doing things alone. Go alone to that city and explore the food places at your own pace
10. Learn to enjoy doing things alone. Go alone on long drives
11. Participate actively in your school and college whatsapp groups
12. Call your best friends often. Not whatsapp. Call

Today, I'm writing what I wanted to write for a long time. This fact might simply change your perspective of your mom (I literally mean your mom). 

You might have had a question - Why is my mom special to me?

She cleaned your shit before you did it yourself. Yea she didn't feel tired about it. That's the beauty. More than that she is very very special and precious to you.

Vilayanur S. Ramachandran a student of Madras University, has found out that when a person comes out of his/her comma might forget whatever he/she might know. It can be their names, their language, where are they, what are they 

and everything else, But not their mom! When they are out of comma they might not recognize anyone but they can not fail to recognize their mother. They might even forget how to communicate as they lost their language.

In your brain there is an organ which stores all your togetherness of you and your mom and that is a read-only memory. A mother may refer to the one who gave birth to you or the person who showered you with the motherly love.

Flora and Fauna #2: The King of Snakes - The King Cobra

Hey Asauce!

Today, I thought I'll write about a species which fascinates me whenever I think about them and they are King Cobra. Do you know why its called as a King (of Snakes)? As you all would know they chiefly prey on other snakes and they are the longest venomous snake in the world. In them some are poisonous and some are not. When attacked or threaten they might strike back and they also have their senses to find their prey / threat. So to attack other snakes King Cobra inflicts fear in its prey's subconscious mind through low frequency signals. Any species which has reflex would stop for a second and look around for threat and that is when King Cobra strikes!

Generally in snakes and other venomous species have glands that secrete the zootoxins (Poisons) which is nothing but highly modified saliva. The King Cobra has an evolutionary advantage here. They can simply breath (Oxygen) once and they have their poison ready to strike. They can do this for 40 - 50 times which is enough to kill a heard of elephants and no other snake can kill a fully grown elephant. Cobra's would lift their heads which not only to threaten but also to search for food. There are 270 different types of cobras which include their cousins Taipans, Adders, Mambas, Kraits and many sea snakes. They all have short fangs and are extremely poisonous. They can move very fast and can speed along with their head raised. They can raise up to 1/3rd of their length and King Cobra's can grow up to 17 to 18 feet. Hence, a fully grown King Cobra can lift their head to 6 feet from the ground!


When I was on a safari on a huge male Indian elephants in Jim Corbett National Park in the year 2010, the elephant lifted one of his leg and started trumpeting as there was a King Cobra just few feet away from us. It was a breathtaking experience for all 3 of us on the elephant. I had encountered King Cobra's in Mundanthurai Tiger reserve and Agumbe amongst other little known hamlets where the Snakes have a field day ;)

Flora and Fauna #1: Machli - The Queen of Ranthambore

Recently a good family friend Mr. Nalla Muthu (Wildlife photographer) shared a beautiful article about Machli which struck me to share my experiences with her and her legacy.  

Ranthambore tiger reserve is one of the largest and one of the oldest tiger reserve in India located in the East of Rajasthan. It's open for public 9 months a year and one can enter the forest with proper permission and payment. There are 6 officially permitted routes in ranthambore.

As you might know, Tigers lead solitary lives and establish and maintain home ranges. Resident adults of either sex tend to confine their movements to a definite territory, within which they satisfy their needs.

Machli means Fish in Hindi. She got her name Machli because she got a fish shaped marking on the left part of her face. In ranthambore forest there's a Fort built by Jaipur kings. The Tiger which has the throne is considered the King or the Queen of Ranthambore. That range is also fertille with lot of animals to hunt. On an average a tiger would hold the throne for about 3 to 5 years. But machli managed to hold it for more than 7 years. This plus her muscular majestic looks has brought her to the limelight all over the globe. The Queen of Tiger dynasty is now devolving, a hard fact to accept.
